Association of Air Ambulance Charities

On average, an emergency air ambulance takes off every 10 minutes in the UK, flying 365 days a year in daylight hours. Put another way, during every hour of every day 7 Air Ambulances are attending accidents and medical trauma.

The Association of Air Ambulance Charities (AAAC) exists to support the work of the UK's Independent Air Ambulance Charities.

The charities have been established to enhance the service provided by the NHS Ambulance Service Trusts, through the provision of additional resources, drugs, skills and suitable vehicles, primarily, but not necessarily, the use of helicopter ambulances.

Since the charities are mainly funded by public donations, patient care and outcomes will be our sole focus, without being unnecessarily influenced by government targets.

The Association acts as a conduit between the charities, policy makers, regulators and other industry bodies.

The Association is a national umbrella organisation that recognizes the autonomy of each individual charity.
